London’s own Couros has just dropped ‘Ne·ver Break’ – the second track from his Jupiter EP and the only one to feature fellow PMR signee Alyss. After the first single, ‘Breathe A·gain’ which was characterised by its warm, Disclosure-esque synths, 'Ne·ver Break' sees Couros experiment with a more stripped back production style. The track is underpinned by repeating, brassy synth stabs which provide the wobbling bassline, while Alyss’ effortless vocals float over the top. Following in a trend of young alternative R&B singers including the likes of Liv Dawson and Jessie Ware, Alyss’ vocals are polished, full of character and suit Couros’ production style perfectly. His relaxed electronic beats and light touch gives the vocals just enough space to breathe whilst simultaneously giving ‘Ne·ver Break’ the pace and edge to keep your head bobbing right till the end. - HM
